   Wow! Sounds like the old urban legend of a Rembrandt at a yard sale is true. I doubt that will last long. It seems to me the person selling it didn’t do their homework– I know what your instruments sound like ‘out of the box’– if it has been kept well, it should sound spectacular, once it has been ‘played in’ a bit. I showed this to my brother-in-law & he’s going to check into it– something like this down’t come along very often– definitely serendipity– it’s kike the way I found my current Tak 12– there was an ad by the Takamine rep– list at the time was $1200,he was asking $500, due to the crack in the finish– I didn’t know about the lawsuit until he told me that Takamine had to reclaim the 6 & 12 string models [F245 & F246] in the judement– they had only sold 25 of the 6 & 8 of the 12 here in the states. When I took it to the luthier at Charlie’s, he verified the crack wasn’t in the wood & asked what the rep was asking, he told me that if I didn’t buy it, he would, that sealed the deal. Anyway, wish I could do it– but the best is yet to come.

    Hope your weather is improving-- spent the weekend getting dirty playing Bonaparte's Retreat-- I'll send some pics soon-- the Iris are getting ready to bloom, & will look really nice soon-- it's my favorite place to go when the weather is pleasant. Still have to re-do the walkway, which may kill me if it doesn't make me stronger.  Also added some perennials [I just can't do all of this every spring anymore-- I want 'set it & forget it' plants] for more color in the middle/late summer. 
   
    The time has come to re-string the instruments-- Will be trying medium-guage strings this time-- my drop the pitch down to D on the 6's & maybe C# on the 12 & see how it goes. Should be a busy week-- re-stringing, working on Bonapartes & I will get your 'post-op' care kit off to the USPO, so you should get it in time. Hope all is going well for you there-- the hip replacement will definitely improve things once you get past the first week. Will try & get some pics to you later this week [if it will stop raining* here] * of the studio & Bonaparte's Retreat [named it after the song & Emmy Lou Harris's dog sanctuary]. 'Till then, may all go well.
